Watercolor Dye Shirt DIY

Tuesday

I first saw this skirt when scrolling through Anthropologie the other day and fell in love with the pattern. The nice thing about this pattern is it is forgiving since it's a little on the messy side.

Supplies: Fabric dye, shirt (I purchased mine at Forever 21), cardboard, bowl of water, paintbrush.

Begin by mixing 1/4 cup of dye with one cup of water in a bowl. Take the cardboard and put it inside the shirt, stretching it out flat. Then, with a paint brush begin painting on splotchy ovals. I created somewhat of a messy pattern so that they were spaced evenly. Once you've covered the front of the shirt, let it dry for at least an hour. Once it's dry, repeat this step on the back of the shirt. For the first wash, hand wash it in cold water, letting any extra dye wash out before adding it to your regular laundry.
